Change Up Your Duvet For Summer!

If you're struggling to sleep because you’re too warm, your duvet could be too high of a tog for this time of year. Not everyone is able to sleep using the same duvet all year round. If you have a winter duvet at the moment, you may need to change it for lighter, summer one for the upcoming warmer season. This will give you the chance to also clean and store your winter duvet for the cooler months.

The tog rating of a duvet tells you how warm it will be on a scale from 2.5 to 15. If you've been using a 13.5 tog duvet through the winter, you might want to switch to a 4.5 tog duvet during the summer. Alternatively, some people find it more pleasant to sleep with a 10.5 tog duvet all year round.

It is recommended by the sleep council to change your duvet every five years or so, however this will depend on the quality of your duvet. The filling of your duvet will lose its fluffiness and its ability to then trap the air that helps you to maintain a perfect body temperature while you sleep. With this in mind, it is important to replace your duvet when this becomes apparent.
