March is International Women’s History Month, so we’re getting to know some of the amazing women whose expertise has led to the creation of some of the world’s top beauty brands.
Everyone has heard of Coco Chanel and Estée Lauder, but that's just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to hardworking, passionate and talented women creating their very own beauty brands! We've delved into our Beauty Hall and Beauty Hub to get to know some of these incredible ladies a bit better.

Coming from a family of scientists, Terry originally planned a career in medicine, but instead choosing to pursue her love for the world of beauty. After working with Yves Saint Laurent as International Director of Creation and Marketing, she went on to found By Terry, an exclusive beauty brand which works upon the principles of rarity, creativity and modernity.
Terry constantly invents new techniques, successfully combining ease of use with sophisticated performance and a multitude of results, to radiantly enhance and celebrate all women and all personalities.

Huda started her career in financial recruitment before being fired from her job. Her sister Mona encouraged her to move to LA and study makeup, so she could pursue her dreams of working in beauty.
As a Hollywood-trained makeup artist, Huda turned her love affair with makeup into one of the world’s fastest-growing beauty brands! A pioneer amongst Middle Eastern women, Huda was guided by her expertise and eye for detail, to create a brand valued at over $1 billion.
Huda Beauty is a family run and operated brand! Huda runs the business with her sisters Mona and Alya (Global President and Chief Instagram Officer, respectively) and her husband Chris, who is Chief Operations Officer. Their dad, who is a retired Engineering professor, is also in the office regularly, offering advice and guidance.

It’s not who you are that holds you back. It’s who you think you are – that’s Sonia Deasy’s motto. A busy mother of five, Sonia needed a skincare routine that was as simple as it was effective. Along with her biochemist sister, Sonia began to develop a formula that followed the less-is-more approach that she takes to skincare and makeup.
She combats stress by cooking a delicious Indian meal, inspired by her heritage, and never leaves home without lip balm, her phone, Pure Hyaluronic Serum, her wallet and a power bank. Despite being the founder of such a successful brand, Sonia is just like any other mum – her phone is filled with pictures of her children, who she considers to be the best gift she has ever received.

Mrs. Estée Lauder started her business with four skin care products and a simple premise: that every woman can be beautiful. Estée created the first ever serum, as she understood the skin’s ability to repair itself overnight. She also revolutionised the fragrance industry – created fragrances that women bought for themselves, rather than waiting for their husbands to gift them.
Estée Lauder believed that you should never sell a customer what she doesn’t want or need, strongly believing that the ideal beauty routine required only a few key products and a few minutes in the morning or evening to apply. She made her success through her belief that all great things begin with a vision…a dream.

Petra Strand trained as a professional makeup artist in LA, before discovering that her true passion lie in the development of skincare and colour products. Petra has a photographic memory for colour and she draws upon this for inspiration for collections and shades within the makeup collections. From a small boutique in SoHo just 20 years ago, Pixi has developed into a brand that is loved around the world.
As a busy, working mother of four, Petra knows the value of flaw-fixing, youth-enhancing products for women on-the-go with no time to spare. Petra counts her grandmother – who ran a successful café in the family’s native Stockholm – as her greatest inspiration.

Sarah Chapman is widely regarded as the most sough-after facialist in London. She is a skincare expert, having studied cosmetic science, before developing her revolutionary Skinesis range. Sarah attributes her success so far to hard work, passion, determination, thinking outside the box and never taking NO for an answer. Feeling empowered and trusting her won judgement are cornerstones of Sarah's philosophy that anything is possible!
