I'm a Makeup Lover

As a busy mum of one and a makeup lover, my makeup bag has to be a collection of the best products that will sort me out first thing in the morning and last me all day too. My job requires me to be camera ready at any stage so I have put together my must haves to share with you.

My Step-By-Step Guide

Starting with the skin, I like to have my skin in the best condition possible so that I get a good application when applying my makeup. I have been travelling a lot lately and have been swearing by using sheet masks regularly, to give skin that extra hydration it craves. The Starskin sheet masks are a skin saviour. I use them on flights, or before a big night out or event.

Then on to the base. I have been loving YSL Touche Eclat le teint foundation. This base gives the skin a healthy luminosity without looking greasy or oily. It allows the skin to still shine through but can be built up to a medium coverage too. For concealer I love M.A.C Studio Finish as it has the best staying power. I use this under my eyes and on any blemishes I may have on the skin, including acne scarring. It blends like a dream and doesn’t sit into any fine lines.

I am known for my highlighter obsession and you can’t get much better than the CoverFX Custom Enhancer Drops. The shade Moonlight is my go to, and I use my finger to blend it onto the tops of my cheekbones for a healthy, radiant glow to the skin. You can also use this across your collar bones to create a dewy finish to the skin.

On to blusher, and I fell in love with this one from the day it launched. It hasn’t left my makeup bag since…! It’s the Benefit Galifornia blusher. A perfect mix of pink and coral with a subtle gold fleck to it, it leaves the face looking fresh and healthy. Not to mention the scent…. its good enough to eat! Definitely a makeup bag must have for me.

When I’m on the go and doing the school run before work, my biggest saviour is mascara. It can make you look like you’ve had plenty of sleep even if you’re exhausted! I swear by the YSL The Shock mascara. It is the best one I’ve tried (and trust me, I’ve tried plenty!!) It doesn’t flake or smudge throughout the day but holds a curl perfectly. My tip with this is to make sure to do two coats…its the second coat that really makes the biggest difference. My only downside to this product is that it doesn’t last me as long as some other mascaras. It can dry out quickly so be sure to replace the lid as soon as you’re done and don’t pump the wand in and out of the tube too much as this will push air into it and make it dry out quicker.

When it comes to lip products I am a nude girl through and through. I also love a matte finish and a fave of mine is definitely the NYX Professional Makeup Soft Matte Lipsticks. My go to shade for everyday is always Athens. They really last on the lips and are affordable too. Just be sure to moisturise your lips with a balm beforehand as if applied to dry lips they can dehydrate your lips by the end of the day.

Finally, the last product in my bag is M.A.C Fix+ spray. I use this to set my makeup but also use it throughout the day to add hydration and it’s perfect to use on flights so your skin doesn’t look dull when you arrive at your destination!
