For many, when working from home snacking smartly can be difficult. When looking for a quick fix, we often take the easy option of pre-packaged or processed foods. Here are some snacks which are quick to whip up, are very tasty and nutritious too!

If you’re craving a savoury nibble that will keep you going until dinner time, stuffed gem lettuce leaves is a great option. Simply pack savoury ingredients into the crunchy lettuce leaf and enjoy! Why not try a no bread BLT. Add a dash of mayonnaise to the lettuce leaf and top with bacon pieces and chopped tomato. Leftovers from last night's stir-fry or chilli con carne are perfect for popping into a lettuce wrap. To freshen up a leftover meal add some cucumber to make it crisp and crunchy.

1. Apples & Peanut Butter

Apple slices dipped into peanut butter or a nut butter of your choice is the perfect afternoon snack to curb your sugar cravings. This snack is packed with fibre and healthy fats and is a good source of carbohydrates to beat the afternoon slump.

2. Veggies & Hummus

Crunchy vegetables dipped into hummus is a great alternative to crisps. Thinly slice carrots, cucumber and mixed peppers and dip into hummus. A homemade hummus is quick and easy to make and will put your usual shop bought hummus to shame. Combine a tin of chickpeas, 2 crushed garlic cloves, 2 tablespoons of lemon juice, 1 teaspoon of cumin, a pinch of salt and 4 tablespoons of water and blend with the Kenwood Triblade Blender with Chopper until you achieve a creamy texture. Add additional salt to taste, season with paprika and drizzle with olive oil.

3. Delicious Dark Chocolate

There’s no need to deprive yourself of the things you love! If you’re craving chocolate why not try a selection of fruit dipped in melted chocolate. Opt for dark chocolate as this tends to be a healthier option as it contains a lower sugar content and generally has less additives.
