AW17 Trend Report

The Arnotts AW17 runway was all about combining style and comfort. This season sees relaxed sportswear fused with sharp tailoring to create effortless work-to-weekend wear. The soft, feminine florals of spring/summer are updated with richer hues and weighted fabrics for the new season. And this year we’re predicting party season will be awash with metallic, sequins, glitter and statement embellishment.

Coats & Jackets

Sartorial Sport

Sports-inspired patterns influence ready-to-wear clothing this season. A fusion of tailoring and relaxed activewear, these pieces allow you to transition effortlessly from work to weekend. As always, details are key; look out for strategically placed zips, drawstrings and bold stripes. Opt for seasonal shades of black and navy, adding reds, purples, pinks and whites to brighten up the look. Ganni, Luisa Cerano and Arnotts-newcomer Millie Mackintosh have all drawn inspiration from the sartorial sport trend in their new season collections.

Medern Heritage

Modern Heritage

A mix of masculine and feminine pieces in a classic autumnal colour palette, this trend takes elements from Victorian style, and reimagines men’s tailoring to create a new form of power dressing. Texture is of utmost importance, along with classic darker shades including winter navy and deep shades of tan and plum. Take heed of European brands Set, Strenesse, Caractere, Tara Jarmon and Marella for flawless modern heritage style.

Soft Romance

Soft Romance

The romantic, girly notions of the Soft Romance trend prove that florals are not just for spring. Layers of sheer chiffon, rich silks, and weighted crepes offer a three-dimensional canvas for the feminine cuts of these ladylike pieces. Colours range from soft pastel yellows and pinks, to more earthy brick reds, mauves, and khaki. New arrivals Samsoe & Samsoe and MAX&Co. showcase this elegant trend in their new season collections along with Ganni, Lauren by Ralph Lauren, Goat and Niamh O’Neill.

The Soft Romance trend extends beyond clothing to stylish accessories by Lancaster Paris, Michael Kors, Kate Spade, and elegant lingerie from Fantasie, Wacoal, Eberjey and Simone Perele.

Cocktail hour

Cocktail Hour

Light up party season with glitter and sparkle. Drenched in satin, lace, sequins and velvet, and embellished with everything from feathers to fringes, these are party pieces with attitude. Metallics interplay with the perennial black, which provides the ideal backdrop for unique prints and textures. Contemporary designer Millie Mackintosh channels party season in her coveted AW17 collection, along with stand-out pieces from Vera Mont, Caroline Kilkenny and Tara Jarmon.

This luxurious occasion trend also filters down to lingerie, in the form of beautiful laces, cut-out details, and appliques from Elle Macpherson, Simone Perele and B.tempt’d.
